Thanks J B for introducing us to great Southern cooking and BBQ. The fabulous ribs were only outdone by Jim’s charm and generosity. It was a highlight of our USA road trip, so easy going and fun. Perhaps the slogan should read, ‘The flavour’s in the meat, the sauce is on the side and a generous helping of friendliness comes free?’ Guess what? We posted you a Christmas Pudding today – hope it gets to you in time. Remember, its very rich, a small slice is enough but you can reheat it again, covered and with a little spoon of sherry, rum, brandy or whatever. All the best, Jane and Eric.
Locals and former neighbors introduced us to this gem. ‘Delicious buffet from start to finish! Chicken, pulled pork, pork loin….and a special treat. . . Ribs. We loved Jim and Diane and the gang. The past two years my son has picked JB’s to have his birthday dinner while we are on vacation at Seabrook Island. The BBQ is great and the people are even better. We always do take out so we can get back to the beach. JB’s even included a little extra birthday surprise for my son. If you are looking for good bbq and great southern hospitality in this area then JB’s is the place.
Was in town for business and someone suggested I go there. Best suggestion I heard all week. Great food at a great price with great hospitality. And he was right about the brisket. It was awesome.

I’m originally from Atlanta and have lived in Charleston for 5 years. JB’s has the BEST bbq in Charleston and very comparable to my fav spot back in Georgia. Only complaint is they arent open all week cause I always crave it!

What a treat! The best BBQ and fried chicken we’ve ever had. Go for the buffet for a delicious selection of meats and wonderful sides. The JB’s is a must do if you are staying in the Charleston/Kiawah area.
This place is the best! The food is GREAT but the service is even better. If you are hungry for food or conversation just stop in and you will be completely satisfied by the time you walk back out the door.

JB’s Smokeshack catered my daughter’s wedding on July 11. The BBQ was better than all the famous BBQ places I have eaten in Charleston. And…I have eaten at all of them!! The service was great, food great and the extras provided by Pam and her team for the wedding reception were first rate and second to none. p.s. the fried chicken is also some of the best I have eaten!!
My wife and I visited for the first time this past May 2009 as we celebrated our ten year anniversary. She has since been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and it’s stage IV. She is currently in hospice care. We’ve had the unique opportunity to reflect upon our lives together. Our experience at your restaurant came up as one of the highlights of that trip and she brought it up as a great memory. Thanks for giving her such a great meal and experience.

On a recent mission trip to Sea Island, my church members and I were blessed to eat at JB’s Smokeshack. JB’s has the best brisket, pork chops, smoked pork, and ribs I have ever eaten. I now know why God created the hog, the cow, the chicken and fire & smoke. JB’s hospitality is second to none and the food is heavenly. God bles America and JB’s Smokeshack!!!!
pam of JB’s catered my daughter jennifer’s wedding reception in branchvsille with first assistant ‘yiska’. they were consumate professionals, prompt, organized, efficient, enthusiastic, and pleasant. as noted in earlier comment, they did more than required. and the food, well, the whole roast pig was succulent and sublime (the flavor is in the meat, the sauce is on the side!). my family gave rave reviews for the sweet and spicy sauce, which i missed. smoked chicken, stewed apples, cole slaw, green beans, pork hash over rice (bride’s selection), and pam’s shocking ‘private reserve purple potato salad’ were delectable, and prices reasonable. we skipped the banana pudding and chocolate eclair pudding in consideration of wedding cake (btw, costco’s ‘boston cream cake’ is divine), but if you’re on maybank highway, the proof is in the pudding! JB’s rules ! ! !
We had an employee appreciation luncheon and was fortunate to have JB’s come in on a Tuesday morning to prepare our food. The food was excellent (as usual) and the amount of food was incredible for the price. Bottom line: tremendous value plus friendly people makes it a no brainer next time I need to cater anything… JB’s is the ticket.

Well not only was I impressed but I did bring clients in for your lunch buffet and they were overly impressed by the wonderful selection and flavor of food on your buffett. I was able to sample the best brisket I have ever put in my mouth at the Sertoma BBQ Championship last Saturday. I was a volunteer so I got to walk around after I was done. I love JB’s sooo much! I started vacationing in South Carolina a couple of years ago. Everytime I’ve brought a friend I make sure to go to JB’s… They still talk about this place and tell others to go if they ever visit this area of South Carolina. Everything from the BBQ to the sides, to the dessert is amazing! Thank You!
My absolute favorite place to go for BBQ and great conversation! I’ve been going to the GC location since they opened…it’s on my way to and from work so sometime I stop in just to get a BBQ sandwich to take to work (when I’m on 2nd shift). You really need to try this place for the best BBQ in the state!!

This is fantastic bbq! The meats, the sides, the sauces are all the best. We look forward to getting great bbq everytime we head down to Seabrook to visit. Everyone is so very nice and so funny that spending 5 minutes at the counter brightens any day. Great food and hospitality is their generous gift to everyone who stops in. And here is the extra special thing about them. When I wanted to bring home some bbq to my husband who could not make it down, they froze me up some ribs and some pulled pork and poured some sauce into water bottles so I could toss that wonderful gift in my luggage and make him one happy man! have driven by this place for years – every time we come to Kiawah, we go by and I never used to stop becuase it did not look too fancy. My mistake! This is absolutely the best bar-b-que and southern vegies I have ever had. Everyone staying on Kiawah – don’t go to Charleston to eat – stop here and save a bundle and get the best! We were looking to try some Southern BBQ while on vacation on Kiawah Island. Were we surprised to come across the best BBQ we have ever had. The variety of food offered was excellent, there was something for everyone in our two family group. The tour of the kitchen and the hats were great. I believe I could eat your BBQ, ribs, and especially the brisket 4 nights a week! And the veggies are just down right good ole country cooking! The family atmosphere and the service can’t be beat. Whenever I have out of town guests, JB’s is the first place we go! We’ve been to JB’s Several times and they have the best Bar-B-Q and fixen’s. We always leave with full bellies and a good time. It is like good to a family members house for dinner. They are very friendly and always has a smile on their face. Can’t wait to get back. See you soon
Thank God for Barbeque and let me sing my praise for this restaurant. Being from TX I’m spoiled finding plenty of great barbeque back home. However, this was some of the best barbeque I’ve had to date, anywhere. The meats were tender and full of smoky flavor. Trust me, you have to try the brisket! The variety of sauces were fantastic a perfect match for the rubs they use (I especially liked their rib sauce and the (almost TX style) spicy sauce). The side fixins’ were darn good too. I hope you give them a try and I’m sure if you do you will be a disciple too.
I am so glad I live near great BBQ like JB’s Smokeshack. The brisket is great and the ribs are outstanding! The rib sauce is THE perfect compliment to the rub. If you want fantastic BBQ the way nature intended (sauce on the side!), then JB’s is the place for you! Run, don’t walk to JB’s Smokeshack!!
By golly, I want people to know that they don’t come any friendlier than the owners of this Shack!!…and the food is soooo ‘down home’ gooood!! If you think the Barbque is good..you should taste their smoked turkey! (I think that’s a special request )…It really is a neat place to have a great meal in a warm friendly atmosphere…and I’m not biased!

I have visited JB’s every week since they opened. The food is terrific! Best Bar-B-Q around and the vegetebles ar just like mom’s! Great desserts also. The owners are great people serving great food. I would recommend the restaurant to everyone!

I was able to sample the best brisket I have ever put in my mouth at the Sertoma BBQ Championship last Saturday. I was a volunteer so I got to walk around after I was done. I love JB’s sooo much! I started vacationing in South Carolina a couple of years ago. Everytime I’ve brought a friend I make sure to go to JB’s… They still talk about this place and tell others to go if they ever visit this area of South Carolina. Everything from the BBQ to the sides, to the dessert is amazing! Thank You!

My absolute favorite place to go for BBQ and great conversation! I’ve been going to the GC location since they opened…it’s on my way to and from work so sometime I stop in just to get a BBQ sandwich to take to work (when I’m on 2nd shift). You really need to try this place for the best BBQ in the state!!

This is fantastic bbq! The meats, the sides, the sauces are all the best. We look forward to getting great bbq everytime we head down to Seabrook to visit. Everyone is so very nice and so funny that spending 5 minutes at the counter brightens any day. Great food and hospitality is their generous gift to everyone who stops in. And here is the extra special thing about them. When I wanted to bring home some bbq to my husband who could not make it down, they froze me up some ribs and some pulled pork and poured some sauce into water bottles so I could toss that wonderful gift in my luggage and make him one happy man! have driven by this place for years – every time we come to Kiawah, we go by and I never used to stop becuase it did not look too fancy. My mistake! This is absolutely the best bar-b-que and southern vegies I have ever had. Everyone staying on Kiawah – don’t go to Charleston to eat – stop here and save a bundle and get the best! We are planning on coming back at least every other month all the way from Atlanta just so we can eat at JB’s. You guys are the best! Becky Capes & Family
We were looking to try some Southern BBQ while on vacation on Kiawah Island. Were we surprised to come across the best BBQ we have ever had. The variety of food offered was excellent, there was something for everyone in our two family group. The tour of the kitchen and the hats were great. I believe I could eat your BBQ, ribs, and especially the brisket 4 nights a week! And the veggies are just down right good ole country cooking! The family atmosphere and the service can’t be beat. Whenever I have out of town guests, JB’s is the first place we go! My daughter, son-in-law and grandson love JB’s food so much that whenever I go visit them in Spartanburg, I’m always asked if I’ll stop by JB’s and load the car up on my way out of town

It’s nice having the best BBQ anywhere just across the street from my house. We always look foward to going there on a Friday night for some of that world famous BBQ and the best ribs on the planet. Kristin and I were married on Kiawah Island in May. JB’s provided the BBQ for a large picnic we had the evening before the wedding. They were great to work with. All the food was ready on time, yet freshly cooked. All of our guests raved about the food. You might want to get extra ‘Spicy Tomato Sauce’ if you cater a party. This was popular and went fast. Thanks JB’s!

We’ve been to JB’s Several times and they have the best Bar-B-Q and fixen’s. We always leave with full bellies and a good time. It is like good to a family members house for dinner. They are very friendly and always has a smile on their face. Can’t wait to get back. See you soon

Thank God for Barbeque and let me sing my praise for this restaurant. Being from TX I’m spoiled finding plenty of great barbeque back home. However, this was some of the best barbeque I’ve had to date, anywhere. The meats were tender and full of smoky flavor. Trust me, you have to try the brisket! The variety of sauces were fantastic a perfect match for the rubs they use (I especially liked their rib sauce and the (almost TX style) spicy sauce). The side fixins’ were darn good too. I hope you give them a try and I’m sure if you do you will be a disciple too.
I am so glad I live near great BBQ like JB’s Smokeshack. The brisket is great and the ribs are outstanding! The rib sauce is THE perfect compliment to the rub. If you want fantastic BBQ the way nature intended (sauce on the side!), then JB’s is the place for you! Run, don’t walk to JB’s Smokeshack!!
By golly, I want people to know that they don’t come any friendlier than the owners of this Shack!!…and the food is soooo ‘down home’ gooood!! If you think the Barbque is good..you should taste their smoked turkey! (I think that’s a special request )…It really is a neat place to have a great meal in a warm friendly atmosphere…and I’m not biased!

The best brisket that we have ever tasted! The pork sandwiches with slaw can’t be beat. Now you know why its our first stop after the airport! Nice people, great food – the combination can’t be beat!
I have visited JB’s every week since they opened. The food is terrific! Best Bar-B-Q around and the vegetebles ar just like mom’s! Great desserts also. The owners are great people serving great food. I would recommend the restaurant to everyone!
